News from Millstream Management Services

Small is beautiful - 08/09/10

My wife and I moved into a Churchill Retirement Living development situated in Broadstairs in 2005.  At that time Peverel were the Management Property Agent.

In 2006 we had set about forming a Residents' Association and my wife and I represented the Lodge at the area Residents' Forum that took place in Folkstone.

In a full day agenda of many issues relevant to retirement living, we were told about the wider business structure of which Peverel was only a part.  Hearing this gave rise to our first concerns for it was clear that we were not a significant element in the total activities of the Group and did not have well-defined access to the policy makers who were remote and unknown to us.

At the end of February 2007 all Owners received notification that Millstream Management, an associate company of Churchill  Retirement Living, could offer management of the Lodge on existing terms as an alternative to Peverel, provided the majority of Owners agreed.

After a vote the change of management took place.  Experience has shown this to operate effectively, although it has rarely been necessary as our excellent Lodge Manager and Area Manager have cooperated with the Residents' Association Committee very well whilst maintaining the Millstream policies.

Compared to multi-national companies with many diverse business activities, Millstream is small.  This means they can concentrate on growth through studying client needs and providing market solutions due to its greater flexibility.

In summary 'small is beautiful'.  At least our experience has found this to be so.
