Transfer Fees Abolished! - 26/08/10

Millstream Management Services are pleased to annouce that on retirement apartments constructed by Churchill Retirement Living and property managed by Millstream Management Services the 1% transfer fee which is included in the leases has been waved. This move makes Churchill the first of leading housebuilders in the retirement industry to voluntarily abolish transfer fees, traditionally used throughout the sector to meet landlords’ costs of ensuring that incoming occupants comply with the terms of their leases.

Churchill Retirement Living Chairman and Group Managing Director, Spencer McCarthy, comments: “As one of the country’s leading retirement house builders, we fully appreciate that the transfer fee can be a big expense to anyone selling one of our apartments, especially in this current economic climate. Therefore, we are delighted to give a further benefit to our Customers and abolish these fees once and for all.

“We are confident that by taking such action the positive benefits in terms of brand positioning will outweigh the immediate loss of revenue. Our business revolves around providing a feeling of warmth and security to our Customers and by removing the clause from future leases and waiving the requirement in existing leases we will take away any anxiety over the need to pay any future transfer fee.”
